Free at last

I finished all of my Christmas knitting yesterday and now have this feeling of a large burden released from my chest. It's so freeing to be able to knit for myself. I usually buckle down around October and feverishly knit for others for the months up to Christmas. I have a sweater in progress that I can now work on guilt free. Visions of projects to cast on are swirling in my head. The possibilities are endless and I almost feel buoyant!

I love knitting handmade gifts for friends and loved ones during the season, but being able to knit selfishly is simply lovely. :)

Frankenstein Mittens

Haven't posted in almost a year! I guess that's crazy, but hey. Life gets in the way.

I started and finished my first Christmas present for the year, a pair of convertible mittens for my friend at work, Karen. She has to go out in the field in insanely cold temps and dig in the ground. Occasionally, she needs to write things down (paperwork and the like), so she needs to use her fingers.  Being in the field in the winter can be downright gruesome and who knows what redneck bassackwards place you'll be in? So super bright colors can cheer up (and help keep you from being mistaken for a deer).

Here are Karen's "Frankenstein Mittens." Shhh. Don't tell her.  They're a surprise!!
